Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-03
The short version
- Block Kingdom has no accounts. The app never asks for your name, email, phone number or location.
- The app sends gameplay events, such as "started level 12" or "won level 12", with no name or contact details, tagged only with a random install ID. We use them to balance the game and fix problems.
- The events go to PostHog, our analytics provider, on its EU Cloud. IP addresses are thrown away, not stored.
- No advertising ID (IDFA), no App Tracking Transparency prompt, no ads and no advertising SDKs. We do not sell or share data for advertising.
- Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your iPhone and stops all collection.
This policy covers the Block Kingdom iPhone app (the "app") and this website, block-kingdom.skene.ws. It is provided by SKENE ("we", "us"), 6F, Unit 5-194, 95-1 Gwanggyojungang-ro 248beon-gil, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea, who decides how this data is used. You can reach us at support@skene.ws.
What the app collects
The app collects two kinds of data. Neither is linked to your identity.
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Install ID | A random code (UUID) the app makes the first time it runs and keeps in its save file. It does not come from your device, your Apple ID or any other app. Deleting the app deletes it, and a new install gets a new one, unless you restore the app from an iPhone backup. | Count players and sessions, keep a player in the same group of an experiment, and receive game settings. |
| Gameplay events | What happens in the game, listed below, with the time and a random event ID. | Balance difficulty and rewards, find bugs, and compare versions of the game. |
Gameplay events
- The app opened.
- A level started or ended: level number, difficulty tier, blocks given, attempt number, result (win, lose or quit), blocks used, goals left, continues used, boosters used and how long it took.
- A continue ("Play On") was offered or accepted: level, coin price and reason.
- A booster was used: which one and on which level.
- Something was built in the kingdom, or an area was finished: area, building and stars left.
- An endless game ended: score and best score.
- In-game coins, stars or boosters changed: amount, reason and new balance. These are game items, not money.
- The shop was opened (from which screen), a daily reward was claimed (which day), or the win streak changed (level, new streak and reason).
- An experiment variant took effect.
Each event also carries: a session ID (new each time the app starts), the app version, days since install, the operating system, the experiment variants in force, and whether the build is a test build.
What the app does not collect
Your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, precise or coarse location, advertising identifier (IDFA), Apple ID, payment information, or anything you type. The app does not use cookies, does not ask for tracking permission, and contains no advertising or social media SDKs.
Separately, if you turned on Share with App Developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may share crash reports and app usage statistics with us. Apple controls that sharing, and you can turn it off in Settings.
If you email us
When you write to support, we receive your email address and whatever you include, such as screenshots or your device model. We use them only to answer you, and we delete them within 12 months after the conversation ends. Our email provider stores these messages for us.
How the data leaves your iPhone
- Events are saved in a queue on your iPhone (at most 1,000) and sent in small batches over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) about every 30 seconds while you play and when the app goes to the background. If you are offline, they wait until you are back online.
- When the app starts, it sends the install ID to PostHog to fetch the current game settings and experiment variants. The answer is saved on your iPhone and used until the next one arrives.
- Every event asks PostHog not to look up a location from the IP address, and our PostHog project is set to discard IP addresses, so they are not stored with the events.
What stays on your iPhone
Your progress (levels, stars, coins, boosters, kingdom), your settings, the event queue and the saved game settings are stored only inside the app on your iPhone. iOS may include them in your iPhone backups. We cannot see or restore them.
Why we may use the data
We use this data only to run, understand and improve Block Kingdom. Where data protection law such as the EU or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in making the game work well and fairly balanced. The data is pseudonymous and limited to gameplay, and you can stop it at any time by deleting the app. We do not use it for advertising or to make decisions that affect you.
Who processes it, and where
| Provider | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog, Inc. | Analytics and game settings (feature flags). Processes the install ID and gameplay events on our behalf. | PostHog EU Cloud, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosts this website. Processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. | Global network |
If you play outside the European Union, your gameplay events are transferred to the EU when the app sends them. PostHog, Inc. is a US company. It is bound by a data processing agreement, may use the data only to provide its service to us, and that agreement also covers any access to the data from outside the EU. We read the data from the Republic of Korea, which the European Commission recognizes as providing adequate protection for personal data.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Gameplay events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Summary numbers that cannot be traced to an install ID, such as "players who finished level 10", may be kept longer.
Your choices and rights
- Stop collection. Delete the app. It deletes the install ID, your progress and any events not yet sent.
- Access, correction, deletion or objection. Depending on where you live, you may have these rights. Email support@skene.ws. The app has no account and does not show the install ID, so we usually cannot tell which events came from your device. We will tell you what we can do and help as far as we are able.
- Complaints. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In Korea, that is the Personal Information Protection Commission. In the EU, it is the authority of your country.
Children
Block Kingdom is a game for everyone. The app collects the same install ID and gameplay events from every player, children included, and uses them only to run and improve the game. It never collects names, contact details or location. If you think a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is sent only over HTTPS. Access to the analytics project is limited to the people who work on the game.
This website
This website has no analytics, no tracking scripts, no ads and no embedded third-party content, and it sets no cookies of its own. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes standard request data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect against attacks. If Cloudflare's bot protection is on, it may set a short-lived security cookie that does not track you.
Features that are not active yet
These sections describe things we plan but have not built into the app. None of this happens today. Before any of it goes live, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details.
In-app purchases Not active
If we add purchases, Apple would handle payment and the app would verify purchases on your iPhone. We would not receive your card, Apple ID or receipt. The app would add purchase events (product, price, what showed the offer, and the result) to the gameplay events above.
Ads Not active
If we add ads, they would be rewarded videos you choose to watch and, possibly, full-screen ads between levels that a purchase could turn off. Google AdMob and the ad networks it works with would serve them, and they collect device and usage data and ad interactions under their own policies. Where the law requires it, the app would ask for your consent first through Google's consent form. The app would add ad events (placement, level and result) to the gameplay events above, and would show the iOS tracking permission prompt only if it ever wanted to use the advertising identifier.
Weekly leagues Not active
We are building weekly leagues, where players are grouped with others who started around the same time. If they launch, the app would send our league server at api-block-kingdom.skene.ws the install ID, the install date, the app language and your current level each time the app opens, and each level win (level, tier and time). The server would use this to place you in a world and a weekly group, score the week, show standings, and estimate which players are likely to stop playing so it can merge quiet worlds. Before leagues launch, we will describe here exactly what other players can see.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. For important changes, such as a new kind of data, we will say so in the app or on this page at least 7 days before the change takes effect.
